Designed primarily for amateur recorder players,  other instrumentalists interested in interpretation of early music, and enthusiastic listeners,  Interpretation 1 introduces practical strategies for forming your own interpretation of Van Eyck's celebrated solo melody. 

Rather than prescribing a single "correct" reading, it invites you to engage with the music on its own terms — examining its structure, listening for its gestures, treating articulation as an expressive choice, and drawing inspiration from the source song and the Ovidian myth of Apollo and Daphne that lies behind it.
